An Overview of China’s Vitamin C Export in 2014-2018
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is the one of the mostly used
vitamins. 95.2% of the vitamin C is used for food and medicine and healthcare
products, 4.4% used for feedstuff and 0.8% for skincare products. China is the largest exporter of vitamin C.
Major Vitamin C Producers in China
There are 6
major vitamin C suppliers around the globe. Besides the Scotland-based DSM, the
other five are CSPC, Luwei Pharmacy, NEPHARM, NCPC and Jiangshan Pharmaceutical
from China. The global demand for VC is about 150,000 tons while China has an annual
capacity of 200,00 MT, therefore more than 70% of vitamin C produced in China are exported to other countries.
Vitamin C Export From China in 2014-2018
According to the
data from UN Comtrade, the VC export volume from China has seen a steady growth
since 2014, and has reached to the peak point at 148,796MT in 2017. Despite of
a 2.4% year-on-year decrease in 2018, the export is still kept at a high point.

China Customs, there are six months with the monthly export of VC above 12,000
MT in 2018. In July, the export of VC reached to the highest point at 15,043MT.

Export Value in 2014-2018
The export value
of vitamin C saw a slight decrease from 2014 to 2016. With the export volume grew
to the peak point in 2017, the export value also rose sharply to 879,740 USD
and saw a 104.1% year-on-year growth. In 2018, the export value decreased to
835,370 USD and decreased by 5.0% from the earlier year.
